ON MUTATION OF FORMS

Grecia e Roma antiche raccontano tramite i miti metamorfici l’incontro dinamico col naturale.

ON MUTATION OF FORMS

In the non-human era, where undermining anthropocentrism is part of the aesthetic discourse, it is good to seek the roots of this contemporary aims.
Ancient Greece and Rome describe the dynamic encounter with nature using the theme of metamorphosis. This narrative gets a reinterpretation in contemporary culture, a ‘revolutionary’ turn, considering the border between human and animal, between man and nature as more and more labile and avoidable.
The incipit of this visual archive is composed by images that cover a span from 17th to 19th century. This first part is broadened by a sequence of contemporary metamorphosis that highlight how the roots of the human and non-human hybridization process are necessary and preparatory to its growth till the present days.
